[Wishing on a Star Prompt 2] Safe Home
It's been a year, and Molly is home safe.
There's a meteor shower tonight, funny how these things sometimes reoccur, almost as if it's reminding you that you are ever so lucky to have a place to call your own. There's food, and soft things, and even though her caretaker is still getting the hang of taking care of a JellDog, it still works, at least to some extent. To the extent said JellDog can feel, perhaps she feels content? As she senses the bright lights in the sky, the old urge to travel is there, but here she is safe, and here she is warm, and here is her person who takes care of her and feeds her. That bit of Dog she has left in her knows that bright lights and fresh air mean explore!/play!/run!, but that other instinct knows how she was slowed down in the cold and sometimes she could barely move on her journey that previous winter.
And her caretaker these days, her person, says "good dog, Molly" and "you little rascal" and "where did you get that SQUIRREL?!?" and also says "let's keep you safe and warm" and "I'm so glad you came into my life". Molly is glad too, at least the part of her that is Dog. And that other part? Well, she is safe and warm and being taken care of. And of course there are others like her, that one local Cat and the Others in the place her caretaker has brought her at least twice now. Maybe she will get to meet them too.
But right now, it is warm inside, and while she perked up at the sky lights briefly, her instinct will soon be to lie down and nap, then wake up and run around, then jump into the snow and run around with her caretaker when the sun is high, then, well, enjoy more dog things I suppose, or rest. Winter is a time for that, resting, and she knows this and knows that her caretaker will keep her safe. She will not be out there freezing in the cold this Winter
She will be Home.
It's been a year, and Molly is home safe.
Officially Molly first arrived at her caretaker's home after barely making it through last winter as touched on in previous work.
Now it is winter again.
