[Wishing on a Star Prompt] Homecoming

You left the place with the pointy things and all the people who used to say "good dog". There is no place to go back to; the only way on is forward. But, it seems something is lighting your path. Is this a home? Do you remember?

You are a Not Dog who used to be Dog. or are you still Dog? You've made it this far. Surely, surely, this isn't just mindless wandering. Surely, surely, there is a home for you somewhere. Even if you do not know what "home" is anymore. Surely, surely, you won't just slow down and stop and go to sleep in the snow. Something drives you onward. A light? A sign? Keep moving forward. Persistence.

This is a place you know, or used to. The Before-Dog had a home here. But, do you?

The dog that Molly the JellHead is based on once had a home in a bright, friendly neighborhood, and the Not Dog is now drawn to the light coming from the sky and the warmth coming from the houses below. While she does not have a sense of "home", exactly, this is where she will travel, and where she will meet her new caretaker, Joan.

This takes place the winter before Molly was discovered and adopted by Joan Jansen. I figured a NotDog craving a home, no matter how deep that instinct is, would naturally gravitate toward a place it "remembers" feeling comfortable and safe, at least on the instinctual level. This particular JellHead seems to be able to handle cold temperatures somewhat, but is slowed down and would probably not be in the best of health. Still, the only forward is through... and dogs are known to be resilient; there are so many stories of them seeking out old haunts after they have been long removed from a location. And Molly is still, sort of, a dog, deep deep down-

Or perhaps more close to the surface- as her caretaker will discover.

This is a scene I had in mind for a while. Molly had a long journey, but miraculously made it to her new caretaker, Joan.

I have to say I'm pretty proud of the shooting star looking like a compass. And I do like the style I've been doing these in!!
